Delegate to Increase Capacity

One of a hundred things I wish I knew when I started my business is delegation.

When you delegate responsibilities the capacity of your business is limited to the number of capable resources you can employ in your business.  Without delegation you’re limited to what you can accomplish within the hours of any given day.

Pull Weeds, Grow Business

Saturday morning I spent four grueling hours doing dirty yard work for the first time in our new house in Apollo Beach, FL.  I must admit, it was fun but exhausting.  During my quest to rid my yard of weeds I realized there is a correlation to the mundane, but necessary maintenance required to keep a business operating smoothly just as my yard requires a little tender love and care every week to stay beautiful. Lesson from World Cup – Follow Up and Get the Sale

With a score of 0-0 in the USA vs Algeria 2010 World Cup soccer match and only seconds away from a disappointing tie, Landon Donovan of team USA followed up on a rebound and pushed the ball into the back of Algeria’s net to score the winning goal that would take USA on to the next round in the World Cup.

Perhaps Landon Donovan’s follow up goal is a good lesson in business… Continue reading →

Let Off The Gas, Lose Your Position

It’s a fair question I get asked a lot by business owners looking to leverage the Internet to increase sales…

Why do I need to keep paying for SEO every month once my website ranks #1 on Google?

Small Business Week

… one Nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all!

Ahh…. Liberty!  Freedom!  Free will!  Persuit of happiness!  Freedom to take the opportunity.  We the people have a chance at building and living our dreams… I love this country.  Some people complain about our government, red tape and politics, or the state of our economy.  But in this beautiful Land of the free we have the opportunity to create our own economy, to start a small business, to work toward a vision and build a dynasty fueled by hope, ambition, and persistence.

From one small business owner to another: keep living the dream, keep striving for your goals, don’t give up, maintain the best level of customer service, thank your customers, and reward those that help you get there along the way as well as after you’ve reached the top.

Happy National Small Business Week to all, and to all a profitable year!

Attracting The Right Customers

Stop wasting time talking to people that don’t need your services.  In a perfect world your company’s Ad would magically appear in front of your prospective clients the moment they need your services, and they would act on your call to action immediately!  The problem is that most traditional advertising such as radio, television, billboards, and direct mail… well, don’t really fit the bill!

People in need typically go to one of three sources to find what they need: Continue reading →

Keep it New, Keep it Coming

That's my boy!

The time is 12:00 midnight and I finally sat down to write this blog post.  Why now?  Because my newborn son decided it is 12:00 noon (his time zone).  So Luke is here just chilling out with me as I write another installment on my blog.

I can’t imagine a better topic than how important it is to keep it new, and keep it coming! Continue reading →

You worked hard to be #1 on Google, but you’re just not getting the kind of business you had expected.  There are a variety of things to be considered in order to attract serious business from the Internet. The first ingredient is obvious: you have to show up in the search results! But showing up is only the beginning.   Continue reading →

1 of 1,000 Things I Wish I Knew When I Started My Business – Strategic Partnerships

Just the other day I went to the chiropractor to get an adjustment.  She noticed my neck was tight and due to my frequent visits from chronic pain she recommended that I have a massage therapist work out the knots in my neck and back.  Like most doctors, my chiropractor gave me a referral to see a therapist she knew would be able to work out the problem.  I was relieved by the recommendation and enjoyed a therapeutic massage that morning.  Continue reading →

Does Google’s Local Listing Ads Ensure ROI?

The word is out on the street about Google’s test market offering of its Local Listing Ads service where small local businesses can be found in Google’s search results for a small flat fee.

Sounds great, right?  No more bidding wars for expensive keywords…  This could be helpful for some, but how well will it really work?  Continue reading →
